It's fluttering again: the butterfly jungle in Krefeld Zoo has opened its doors again after a two-year pause.
Tender beauties flutter around the visitor in the only butterfly house in the Lower Rhine. In summer, up to 200 colourful butterflies from the tropics of South America, Asia and Africa live here, including the enormous blue sky butterfly. Tender are the luminous passionflower butterflies such as the postman or the orange passionflower butterfly. Also impressive due to their size are the banana butterflies, which also have the name owl butterflies because of their markings on the wings. In the butterfly jungle, you can observe the entire life cycle of these insects: from the egg to the caterpillar and the pupae to the finished butterfly.
