Enjoy relaxing moments with family and friends amid the spring-like setting of the Krefeld Zoo.

Near the zebras two young animals race against each other, rhino Mara likes to roll in the mud and among the gorillas the young ones romp through the trees. In the butterfly jungle you will experience the impressive change of butterflies up close and be enchanted by the tropical atmosphere. Tender beauties flutter around the visitor in Niederrhein's only butterfly house . In summer, up to 200 colorful butterflies from the tropics of South America, Asia and Africa live here, including the enormous blue sky butterflies. Tender are the luminous passionflower butterflies such as the postmann or the orange passionflower butterfly. Also impressive for their size are the banana butterflies, which also have the name owl butterflies because of their markings on the wings. In the butterfly jungle, you can observe the entire life cycle of these insects: from the egg to the caterpillar and pupae to the finished butterfly.
