Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum, Paderborn

Exhibitions & Museums

Covering 6,000 square meters, the Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum presents 5,000 years of information technology, ranging from historical typewriters and calculators to early computers and punch card systems to modern robots and artificial intelligence. Eleven sections take visitors on an interactive, informative, and entertaining journey through time, exploring the history of the past and present.

Visitors can see a unique variety of technological innovations: Numerous interactive exhibits in the museum invite visitors to participate and experiment—from calculating with an abacus to making calls with historic telephones to testing popular video games.
The permanent exhibition showcases special milestones in IT history with exhibition areas on PC history and Silicon Valley, including the C64 and the Apple I. With its exhibition area on quantum computers, the HNF is the first museum in Germany to focus on the next generation of supercomputers. At the special exhibit "the world's largest quantum bit," visitors have the opportunity to explore the quantum world for themselves.
A particular highlight is the humanoid robot Ameca, which fascinates with its futuristic design and impressive facial expressions, gestures, and communication skills.

From March 3 to May 10 , the museum will be complemented by the presentation of a faithful replica of the DeLorean DMC-12 from the movie "Back to the Future." The famous vehicle refers to the special exhibition "On the trail of the clock," which will be on display from May 10 and playfully introduces children aged 3 to 12 to the theme of time.
