Hiking and cycling paradise "Naturregion Sieg".

Recreation & Sports

Close to home.

Not so far at most 2 hours by car from Twente you will find the hiking and cycling paradise "Naturregion Sieg". A vacation in the Siegtal is pure relaxation. Because in this beautiful nature reserve, just east of Cologne, Düsseldorf and Bonn, it is wonderful to stay with a well-developed hiking and cycling network.

Hiking, 200 km of hiking fun.

Hiking from station to station. Just set off and leave your everyday life behind: on quiet paths and trails the long-distance route leads through the beautiful Siegtal valley and over the surrounding hills. Each of the 14 stages of this fascinating region starts at a station. The stages have a length between 11 and 25 km. Sometimes the route passes impressive natural monuments, over rocky formations to lonely heights or along the river, castle ruins and villages with traditional half-timbered houses. The trails are meticulously marked and certified as quality hiking trails.

Discover the treasures of the nature reserve with 25 circular walks.

The varied, sometimes easy, sometimes more challenging circular walks lead through the beautiful landscape of "Naturregion Sieg". Along the way you will discover churches, monasteries and curiosities. In between, numerous opportunities for coffee and lunch. All 25 themed walks with a length between 3 and 25 km connect the cultural and scenic treasures of the region. Short tours of about 6 km in length, such as the Burgerweg or the Wildwiesenweg, allow relaxed hiking and time to discover new things, stop for a moment or have a snack. On the other hand, the more demanding trails, such as the more than 20 km long Talsperrenweg through a unique nature reserve, are also a sporting challenge. Information with interesting facts about the region's past and present can be found on all trails.

Cycling pleasure along the Sieg

Experience the character of the region and its beautiful nature. The Sieg cycle path makes it all possible. Over a length of 64 km, from its source to Windeck-Rosbach, the Sieg flows past dikes, floodplains and forests. Past cultural and historical sights. Then, up to the mouth of the Rhine, the cycle route leads on partly new cycle paths right through the Sieg river basin. This route is also very attractive for families, as it is flat and away from car traffic, except for two small inclines. Along the way, cafes and biergarten invite you for a snack and a drink. How about a break at the Sieg waterfall in Windeck-Schladern or take a dip in the Mondorfer See. Whether you are hiking, cycling or just getting a breath of fresh air, whether from a vacation home or hotel, Naturregion Sieg will meet all your expectations.
