Museum Haus Opherdicke

Exhibitions & Museums

Located on a former aristocratic estate near Dortmund, Museum Haus Opherdicke is one of the finest architectural monuments in the region.

The foundations of the main building date back to the 12th century. In addition to historic halls, it has more than 300 square meters of exhibition space. The museum distinguishes itself with the avant-garde of the interwar period and also bridges the gap to contemporary art. The idyllic location of Museum Haus Opherdicke on the Haarstrang above the Ruhr region enables a special form of active involvement in art and culture. Located at the eastern and rather rural edge of the Ruhr metropolis, rediscovered artists of the "lost generation" and relevant contemporary positions and themes are exhibited here. In addition to the exhibition rooms on the upper floor, the main building houses a concert hall, the bistro with an outdoor terrace over the moat, a museum store and a surrounding park, where in 2017 the sculpture park was opened with the works of American-Italian sculptor Raimondo Puccinelli.
