The 2026 North Rhine-Westphalia Top Events Annual Brochure is available online and in print

This compact annual brochure, *Nordrhein-Ruhr Topevents*, showcases the tourist and cultural highlights of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) and has been published since 2010. In terms of area and population, this German state is comparable to the Netherlands: NRW has 18 million inhabitants and covers nearly the same area. The region offers an impressive natural landscape with one national park and 14 nature parks. In addition, NRW has 29 cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants.

In 2025, North Rhine-Westphalia once again broke records in the tourism sector. The number of overnight stays rose to approximately 55.5 million, 9.1 million of which were in the Ruhr region. The number of visitors also reached a new high of 25 million, 5 million of whom were in the Ruhr region. This growth is primarily due to the increase in foreign visitors, with the Netherlands remaining the most important source country with 1.3 million visitors (Source: IT-NRW).

This brochure offers inspiration for both day trips and longer stays. The information is clearly organized into thematic and chronological sections, with different topics highlighted using corresponding color codes.
