Lehmbruck Museum

Exhibitions & Museums

This museum displays a collection of international modern sculptures rare in Europe, the unique combination of outstanding museum architecture and a sculpture park.

In one of the most extraordinary postwar museum buildings, this museum presents a unique collection of modern sculptures. The construction was designed by Wilhelm Lehmbruck's son, Manfred Lehmbruck. Starting from Wilhelm Lembbruck's works, primitivism, cubism, abstraction and expressionism, constructivism and minimalism meet here. In addition to Wilhelm Lehmbruck's most important work, the museum houses works by Constantin Brâncusi, Salvador Dalí, René Magritte, Henry Moore and Rebecca Horn as well as several works by Alberto Giacometti.

Through Feb. 25, 2024 , in the exhibition "Alicja Kwade. In Agnosie," a total of 48 works by the sculptor, including photographs, works on paper, videos, sculptures and installations. The artist skillfully challenges our idea of reality and makes us question our own assumptions.
