Kramer Museum in Kempen

Exhibitions & Museums

After extensive renovations, the Städtische Kramer Museum and Museum für Niederrheinische Sakralkunst now invite you back to the former baroque Franciscan monastery.

The Kramer Museum displays furniture and crafts of the upper middle class from the 16th to the late 19th century in rooms decorated with historic tiles and stucco ceilings. A new permanent exhibition on the history of Kempen opens at the monastery on Nov. 5. The numerous exhibits in the museum's own collection bring history to life: from the beginnings of the young town to its 600th anniversary.

The Holy Museum in the former monastery church has also been refurbished. Modern LED lighting puts the filigree silver and gold cult objects of the Catholic faith made over 500 years in the right light. Besides the late medieval wooden sculptures made in the border region with the Netherlands, the baroque organ and high altar, decorated with much stucco, are also worth seeing. Discover it for yourself! Definitely worth a visit!
