Industrial culture and cycling in Ruhr

Museums and Events

Almost nowhere else in the world is the density of industrial sights higher than here in the Ruhr region. In addition to museums and historic machinery, you will find an abundance of art and culture, events and markets, gastronomy and action, fascinating tours and extraordinary highlights at the sites. The "Route der Industriekultur" presents a fascinating industrial cultural landscape with 26highlights, 17 vantage points and hills, 13 former workers' housing estates and more than 1,000 other locations. The impressive cultural landscape offers you with colorful celebrations of art and culture such as the ExtraSchicht - the night of industrial culture. They owe their special charm not least to unique backdrops for which they are staged. Thus industrial-cultural venues turn into sound-filled, vibrant and lively creative places, see www.industriekultur.ruhr.

Relaxed cycling

Industrial-cultural sites are best discovered by bicycle! Thanks to the new junction system, you can easily plan your tour. 280 information boards set up at places of interest, central train stations and bicycle route junctions provide the necessary information for your tour. Large overview maps also provide an overview of the surrounding area and the most important nearby junctions. Especially relaxed and through greenery, you can cycle through the Ruhr on converted, former train tracks, which lead directly to industrial monuments. They connect numerous industrial monuments and provide the ideal basis for an extended day trip. More information at www.radrevier.ruhr.
