Duisburg has made a virtue of necessity. As in 2024, the 42nd edition of the Rhine-Ruhr Marathon will also take to the track in May.
The date for the classic (besides Berlin and Frankfurt, the RRM is Germany's oldest city marathon): Sunday, May 18, 2025. First start is at 8 a.m. Main race over the 42.195 kilometers starts at 9 a.m.
Finish in the stadium. The "lap of honor" through the stadium, which seats 30,000 spectators, is very well received by the participants and is one of the reasons for many to run hard in Duisburg on the great river (Rhine). There is hardly more applause than at the last meters before the finish. Instead of early June as previously planned, the whole of Duisburg is already transformed into a sports venue at the beginning of May.
