Trans Europa Express - Station Belgium at Kunsthaus NRW

The focus of the exhibition is on the diversity of "pictorial works" by leading Belgian artists

Following the launch of the "Trans Europa Express" exhibition series with DavidClaerbout in the summer of 2024, the Kunsthaus NRW is continuing the series with selections from the young generation of Belgian artists. For the first time, not only individual artists from neighboring countries will be invited to theKunsthaus NRW, but Belgium's vibrant art scene with the art centers of Antwerp, Brussels and Ghent will take center stage in this exhibition.

The focus of the exhibition is on the diversity of "pictorial works." On display will be woven tapestries based on digital designs, risographs, luminous video images, scenographic and site-specific installations, and above all painting in all its manifestations: as dazzling Trompe-l'œil painting, as pictorial objects, and as painting that incorporates folkloric and vernacular pictorial compositions - a sensual course of visual experiences with surprising moments of sound.
