Gruga Park, in the heart of the Ruhr area, is an attractive location that is known and loved far beyond the borders of North Rhine-Westphalia. With its 600,000 m2 of parkland, it not only offers a lot of green, the recreational offerings also include playgrounds, wildlife enclosures, petting zoos, bird aviaries, art exhibits and a botanical garden. Events are also held throughout the year. For example, visit our plant market in autumn (12-13 September), celebrate with us the big park festival (19-20 September) or come to Essen in October during the harvest (1-4 October).
