The Duisburg Philharmonic
The Duisburg Philharmonic is one of the most important institutions of the North Rhine-Westphalian cultural scene.
Within the German orchestral landscape, they enjoy an excellent reputation as a versatile and powerful orchestra. The focus of each season is the twelve philharmonic concerts; central works from the symphonic tradition from the baroque to the modern era are developed there in collaboration with internationally renowned conductors. And through exciting crossover projects, open-air concerts and the educational program "klasse.klassik," the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra has reached new audiences in recent years.
The second home of the Duisburger Philharmoniker is traditionally the orchestra pit of the Theater Duisburg. The successful theatrical marriage with the Düsseldorf Opera House as the "Deutsche Oper am Rhein" was once again secured by the passionate commitment of the Duisburger Philharmoniker -for which they received the City of Duisburg's music award in 2013.
